Highlights of a river cruise between Cahors and Larnagol
Starting from Cahors, various routes are available. You can either navigate towards Luzech for a great experience in the heart of the Lot. Or head to Larnagol for a more picturesque journey, this is the route we are taking you one.
Let’s go for 45km of waterways. In this area, two departure bases are available: Cahors and Bouzies. Here are some cities and towns you will discover while navigating on the Lot East. There is a towpath all along your route so do not forget you bike!
Cities and villages to discover during your cruise
See the current offers
Saint-Cirq-Lapopie. This village, dating from the Middle Ages, is one of the most beautiful in France and is home to many artists (painters, wood turners, sculptors, etc.).
Château des Anglais de Bouzies. The Château des Anglais de Bouzies is located high up in the cliff. You will find it on the road, navigating from Cahors to Saint-Cirq Lapopie. The château des Anglais was used as a refuge to protect the population in case of attack. The interior cannot be visited, but without even leaving your houseboat you will have a magnificent view of the castle.
Towpath dug into the rock. This towpath, from Bouzies to Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, offers you a magnificent walk. At the Ganil lock, you will find yourself walking under the rock.
Hire a licence-free boat on the Lot East
The Lot is a mountain river, wild and meandering, home to a rich fauna and magnificent landscapes. Be ready for a dynamic cruise from Luzech to Larnagol with 17 manual locks. It takes between 15 and 20 miunutes to go through a lock. We suggest to have a least one previous experience of navigation before going on the Lot. There are two departure base on the Lot East : Cahors and Bouzies. Be reminded that you are totally free to take the direction you wish. Before boarding, you will receive a 1h training session, to get yourself used to the boat and navigation.
The locks are manual but they are easy to operate.
If the Lot is in spate, we may have to transfer your cruise to another departure base. We do not recommend the Lot for a first boating holiday.
It is important you only moor in the designated places.
