Highlights of this river cruise between Le Mans and Angers on the Sarthe

From Grez-Neuville, two routes are available. You can head for Laval for a cruise on one of the most beautiful rivers in France or head for Le Mans to navigate on the Sarthe, a natural and wild river lined with Renaissance castles. That's the direction we're taking you in. Let's go for 120 km of waterways! We propose two possible departure points for your cruise in this navigation area: Grez-Neuville and Sablé-Sur-Sarthe.

Rent a licence-free boat to navigate on the Sarthe

You don't need to be a keen sailor to enjoy a gentle river cruise on the Sarthe on a licence-free boat. This navigation area is the ideal destination for beginners. With your river boat, you will pass through about twenty eclectic or manual locks. An excellent opportunity to meet new people, as the lock keepers are in charge of operating the lock gates. We suggest you start your cruise on the Sarthe from Sablé-Sur-Sarthe. Whether you choose a one-way or a round-trip cruise, you will cruise amidst beautiful scenery, charming villages, and Renaissance castles. Before setting off on your cruise, you will receive a short one-hour training session. This training includes an introduction to the rules of river navigation, a demonstration of how to use the boat's commands, and a boat steering lesson.

2 possible starting bases

The locks are electric or manual and manned by lock keepers. They are open on bank holidays.

Anjou is an ideal destination if you are new to boating holidays.

It is strongly recommended you only moor in the designated places.
