    Caledonian canal

    This ruined castle is located on the banks of Loch Ness. Formerly a royal castle, it suffered numerous attacks and was partially destroyed in 1692. It is one of the most visited castles in Scotland.
    At the entrance to the Caldonian Canal you will find the scale of the 8 locks of Netpune, located in the village of Banavia. This is the longest lock ladder in the UK, 457 m, height 19.50 m. This declining scale dates from 1811 and its name is a reference to the sea god Neptune.
    The most famous Loch in the world with the legendary "Loch Ness Monster" is the second largest lake in Scotland with a length of 39km. From Fort Augustus to Inverness it can reach a depth of 72m.
