Highlights of this river cruise between Mayenne and Angers
From Grez-Neuville, there are two directions you can take. You can either head towards Le Mans for a cruise on the Sarte, a natural and wild river lined with Renaissance castles, or towards the North and the city of Laval to navigate on one of the most beautiful rivers in France, green and peaceful : the Mayenne. This is the path that we propose to take you on. Let's go and discover 120 km of waterways! In this boating area, there are two possible departure points for your river cruise: Chenillé-Changé and Grez-Neuville. Cycling enthusiasts will be delighted: the cycling path known as the Vélo Francette links Château-Gontier to Angers via Le Lion d'Angers. This 50km path allows you to enjoy a bike ride whenever you want during your cruise on the southern part of the Mayenne. So don't forget to embark your bike for a nice ride along the river !

Le Lion d'Angers is best known for its famous stud farm. During your houseboat stopover, don't hesitate to visit it on the Isle Briand, so you can discover the 18th century castle.
Laval and its wash boats. In the 17th century, Laval produced a lot of textiles and the waters of the Mayenne were used to bleach and dye fabrics. Laval is also the birthplace of the "Douanier Rousseau". Works by the artist can be found in the city's Museum of Naive Art, which has the finest collection of naive art in Europe, including paintings by Séraphine de Senlis © ArchivesOuest-France
The Notre-Dame du Port-du-Salut d'Entrammes abbey, built in the 13th century, was once known for its cheese-making. They are still on sale at the entrance of the abbey, so take advantage of it ! Radio France - Claire Flochel
Rent a licence-free boat to navigate on the Mayenne
The Mayenne is a calm and unspoilt river. It is easy to navigate, even with a licence-free boat. This area is therefore ideal for beginners with no previous boating experience. You can admire numerous historical treasures along its banks while steering your river boat. Your cruise will be punctuated by 50 locks - some electric, some manual. Don't worry, in case of manual locks, it is the lock keepers who operate the lock gates. What a great way to meet people! Two departure bases are possible for a cruise on the Mayenne river: Chenillé-Changé and Grez-Neuville. Before leaving for your cruise, you will receive a one-hour training session to introduce you to the steering of your boat and to explain you the rules of river navigation.

The locks are electric or manual and manned by lock keepers. They are open on bank holidays.
