SELF DRIVE RIVER BOAT RENTALS FROM Scey/Sâone
This small, very well-developed river port, with a few meters of water skiing, is at the heart of the small Saone.
The locks are automatic or electric, most of them manned by lock keepers. Most locks are closed on 1st May and 1st November (and on 14th July on the Yonne river and the canal de Bourgogne).
Recommended experience for navigation on the Doubs.
From June 2025: Navigation is closed at Chagny on the Canal du Centre (between the Saint-Gilles lock and the Crissey lock) due to a leak. Works are required to secure the embankment. Navigation is expected to reopen in March 2026.
Between Saint Jean de Losne and Mâcon, docking at a pontoon or in a mandatory port. Otherwise you can moor on the banks, in the countryside.
- Car: From the west and the south: A36 - E60 exit 4 Vesoul Besançon Saint Claude, then N57 direction Vesoul then D1 direction Cussey and continue on D3 (50 km), From the East: A36 - E60 exit 11 Vesoul Hericourt, N1019 + D438 + N19, after Vesoul left on D23 towards Scey sur Saone (83 km), From the North: A31 - E21 exit 7 Vesoul, then N19 - E54 + D3 (70 km)
- Train: Vesoul regional train station (21 km)
- Airport: Basel-Mulhouse airport (150 km)
- Map for sale at the tourist office of Scey-sur-Saône. Pikeperches, pike, catfish, trout.
- Petite Saône (between Corre and St Symphorien): automatic locks (in season with lock keeper) open 9h-12h30 / 13h30-19h, closed on May 1st and November 1st.
- Canal des Vosges: automatic locks, manual with accompaniment from Fontenoy, open from 9 am to 7 pm, closed on May 1st and November 1st.
- Grande Saône: The locks are open from 9am to 12.30pm and from 1.30pm to 7.00pm, obligatory bibs in the large locks.
