SELF DRIVE RIVER BOAT RENTALS FROM Bram
Located between Carcassonne and Castelnaudary , Bram is the starting point for one-way cruises to Argens. Its basin is the largest of the Canal du Midi .
The locks are automatic or electric and manned by lock keepers. The locks are closed the 1st of may .
The ladder of locks at Fonsérannes (near Béziers) is very busy during the high season. Frontignan Bridge opens twice a day, in the morning and mid-afternoon.
The one-way or the navigation towards the Carmargue while crossing the Etang de Thau can be canceled or interrupted if the climatic conditions, in particular the wind, do not allow to pass the Etang de Thau. This does not prevent you from sailing while waiting for the reopening of the pond to navigation.
You can moor anywhere along the banks on the Canal du Midi and in the Camargue.
- Car: A61 “Autoroute des Deux Mers”, direct exit no. 22 “Bram” / RD6113 (former RN 113): Marseille–Bordeaux / RD33: Carcassonne–Castelnaudary / RD4-RD119: Bram–Mirepoix.
- Train: Bram railway station (2 km)
- Plane: Carcassonne Airport (17 km) / Castelnaudary-Villeneuve Airfield (20 km) / Toulouse-Blagnac Airport (84 km)
- Fishing licence required. Carp, pike, catfish, trout, zander, roach, tench
- Most locks on the Canal du Midi are electrically operated and supervised by lock keepers. Locks are open from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm and from 1:30 pm to 7:00 pm (high season) or 6:00 pm (low season). Closed on 1st May.
