Self drive river boat rentals from Chioggia, Venise in Italie
All locks and mobile bridges on the lagoon and its surroundings are automatic.
The nagivation in Venice is forbidden, but you will find many moorings nearby, so you can use the vaporetto to access the center of Venice.
Drop off the moorings only in the areas provided for this purpose. An extra charge will be requested upon booking to cover the mooring costs in Mazzorbo, Vignole and Chioggia.
- Car: A4-E64 exit Padova Interporto, then SS16 and SS309 towards Chioggia-Ravenna (about 45 km).
- Train: Station Chioggia (2km)
- Air: Venice Marco Polo Airport (58km)
- It's hard to order a license; for that, we thank you to address directly to the base of Chioggia.
- The tides play an important role and the water level in the lagoon is usually shallow. It is essential to respect the markup and to stay in the middle of the channels so as not to run aground. The removal entails significant costs that are not covered by the insurance or by the purchase of deposit and would be your responsibility. Unlike the canals or rivers, the breakdown service can intervene on the lagoon only on a boat. This means that in the event of a breakdown, and depending on the tides, the delay before intervention can be from 4 to 6 hours. Navigation on the lagoon is much simpler than that on the Brenta canal, whose locks are very narrow and can have a lot of curant. These locks require skill and at least two agile people to assist with the maneuver. During the initiation your instructor will come back on all these themes.
