"Travelling through Scotland like this was really great."

The smaller sections of the canal have 29 locks operated by lock keepers. There are only about 10 locks on most cruising routes. Life jackets must be worn in the locks.

Opening hours: During the busy summer season, the locks are open from 08:00 to 18:00. The locks are closed for one hour for lunch between 12:00 and 14:00.

Public holidays: no closing days

Navigation is very easy, mostly on large lakes.

However, you should be careful on the lakes in windy conditions.

Moorings and equipment are not free, so you will be charged for your reservation.

Houseboat in Scotland, navigate through majestic nature

On your cruise in Scotland, you will have the backdrop of the Highlands and their incredible beauty! For much of your cruise you will navigate the lochs intertwined in the valleys along the Great Glen, the geological fault line that has given this region its distinctive landscape. In the Highlands you will find many castles perched on the cliffs, towns along the shore, tourist facilities around the lakes, friendly pubs and of course you will hear the sound of bagpipes!

Licence-free boating in Scotland, discover the famous Loch Ness

During your licence-free boat trip in Scotland, you will navigate on the most famous of the lakes, Loch Ness. If you don't see "Nessy" (the nickname of the Loch Ness monster), you will see some of the most beautiful castles in Scotland. Some of them are in ruins, testimony to the many clan wars that have raged in this region.
