Don't set off too quickly on this first day of navigation! Redon, at the crossroads of Brittany's waterways, was once renowned for its commercial port. After strolling around this historic port town for a few hours, we'll hop back on board the houseboat and set sail for the Île aux Pies. Nestling in the heart of the Nantes-Brest Canal, this island is a veritable natural gem. It offers breathtaking beauty and a wealth of activities. Whether you're into hiking, climbing, canoeing, kayaking or just taking a leisurely stroll, you'll love it here! Day 2: From Île aux Pies to St Martin/Oust, 31 km, 2 lock(s), 4.5 hrs navigation
Are you ready for a new day? Today is all about discovering La Gacilly, a real Breton jewel. Every year from June to October, the Festival Photo La Gacilly transforms its streets and gardens into an open-air gallery, displaying captivating works that celebrate nature, cultures and human rights. It's an event not to be missed. We also recommend exploring the magnificent Yves Rocher botanical gardens, a veritable oasis of flowers and exotic plants.
Day 3: From St Martin/Oust to Le Roc St André, 24 km, 6 lock(s), 4.4 hrs navigation
On this route, you'll have the chance to visit Malestroit, a charming historic town that will take you back in time with its cobbled streets, half-timbered houses and centuries-old churches. We recommend taking a stroll through this old town to discover its architectural treasures, such as the famous Tour du Papegault, which proudly dominates the landscape. When you arrive in the small village of Le Roc-Saint-André, don't miss the Basserie Lancelot, where you can sample beers brewed in the traditional way.
Day 4: From Le Roc St André to St Gobrien, 21 km, 10 lock(s), 4.8 hours' navigation
Today we're off to Josselin, a place steeped in history where you can discover the impressive Château de Josselin. Reputed to be the most beautiful in Brittany, this castle, completed in 1407, has two completely different faces. On the canal side, you'll discover a medieval fortress, while on the courtyard side, the castle reveals Renaissance-style architecture with its formal gardens.
Day 5: From St Gobrien to Malestroit, 22 km, 7 lock(s), 4.3 hrs navigation
On this route, you'll discover the village of Montertelot, with its traditional stone houses and flower-filled gardens. Take advantage of the paths along the canal for a walk or cycle ride!
Day 6: From Malestroit to Île aux Pies, 28 km, 5 lock(s), 4.7 hours' navigation
