In France, to use the inland waterways such as canals, lakes and rivers, it is not necessary to have a river permit, or even experience. Indeed, the latter are open to the navigation of boats and barges without a license. This is river tourism, which we told you in a previous article, is developing well in the Hexagon and seduces more and more travelers. Nevertheless, this does not mean the absence of rules - especially security - to respect. Similarly, all boats are not eligible and before departure, a short training of 45 minutes must be followed to learn how to fly and pass the locks.
A diverse fleet available for unlicensed navigation
Today, several boats and barges without a license are available for rent. All follow criteria whose length, which must be less than 15 meters, and speed that does not exceed 12 km / hour. Similarly, on board, it takes 2 people minimum. An individual alone can not rent such a boat.
Also know that it is not necessary to have experience to navigate or specific skills / knowledge since we train you before your departure. We show you the functioning of the equipment on board and we introduce you to the fluvial navigation. In addition, all our barges are easy to fly because they are models without a license and therefore, accessible to people who have never sailed.
The rules to know (and respect) before you go
By renting a boat without a license, you discover a new way of traveling, closer to nature and at your own pace. However, during your stay, you are subject to certain safety rules. For example, you do not have priority over other boats. And when you come across it, you have to slow down and put yourself on the right. Any overtaking is done on the left and must be done only if it is safe. In the event of a stop, use the mooring devices installed along the platforms. At night, the lighting of traffic lights is also mandatory. For the driver, the consumption of alcohol is forbidden (as on the road actually). But rest assured, we tell you all these rules during the training.
