Carrick on Shannon is a town, being a former major trading port of the region, which is carried by its pier and port. This is the starting point for one-way cruises on Shannon to Banagher.
The locks are electric and open every day from 9h to 19h. A magnetic card sold at the bse 13 € offers you the passage of locks, toilets, showers and emptying.
Children up to 17 years old must wear a lifejacket.
Mooring at public ports are free and cost around € 15 in private marinas. It is forbidden to spend the night at anchor on the lakes.

On the lakes, be sure to stay in the middle of the channel. Otherwise you risk failing. Withdrawal involves significant costs that are not covered by the insurance or the purchase of bond and would be your responsibility.
