SELF DRIVE RIVER BOAT RENTALS FROM Beaucaire


Located at the end of the navigable part without a permit, Beaucaire the starting point to discover the Camargue nature reserve in boat without license. Ideal for those who do not want to spend many locks, with only 3 locks between Beaucaire and Port Cassafières (one way possible from Beaucaire).

The locks are automatic or electric and manned by lock keepers. The locks are closed the 1st of may and the 14th of july.

The ladder of locks at Fonsérannes (near Béziers) is very busy during the high season. Frontignan Bridge opens twice a day, in the morning and mid-afternoon.
The one-way or the navigation towards the Carmargue while crossing the Etang de Thau can be canceled or interrupted if the climatic conditions, in particular the wind, do not allow to pass the Etang de Thau. This does not prevent you from sailing while waiting for the reopening of the pond to navigation.

You can moor anywhere along the banks on the Canal du Midi and in the Camargue.

  • Road: From Paris, take the A6 to Lyon then the A7 to Orange and finally the A9 exit Remoulins. Follow the direction Beaucaire to the city center. Go down the main road (Bd ML Foch), continue straight until after the bridge. Take the first road immediately after the roundabout along the canal, past a florist on your left and continue straight to the base Le Boat which is indicated.
