SELF DRIVE RIVER BOAT RENTALS FROM Négra
This small river port, located a few kilometers from Toulouse, is the starting point for one-way river cruises on the Canal du Midi to Argens.
The locks are automatic or electric and manned by lock keepers. The locks are closed the 1st of may and the 14th of july.
The ladder of locks at Fonsérannes (near Béziers) is very busy during the high season. Frontignan Bridge opens twice a day, in the morning and mid-afternoon.
The one-way or the navigation towards the Carmargue while crossing the Etang de Thau can be canceled or interrupted if the climatic conditions, in particular the wind, do not allow to pass the Etang de Thau. This does not prevent you from sailing while waiting for the reopening of the pond to navigation.
You can moor anywhere along the banks on the Canal du Midi and in Camargue.
- Car: highway A61 - E80 exit N ° 20 Villefranche-de-Lauragais. At the roundabout, follow dir. Gardouch (D622). At Gardouch, turn right on the D16 dir. Montesquieu Lauragais. After 5 km, turn right on the D11 dir. Lock in Negra. The base is at the lock.

- Airport: Toulouse-Blagnac airport (47 km), Carcassone-Salvaza airport (64 km)
- in Gardouch (4 km): closed on Mondays
- in Villefranche (8 km): closed on Sunday afternoon.

- in Villefranche (8 km) every Friday morning.
- Fishing license card: on sale at Mr Desportes, 36 rue Carnot in Villefranche Lauragais, tel .: 05 61 81 59 27, closed on Mondays.

- Most locks on the Canal du Midi are electrified with lock keeper. The locks are open from 9h to 12h30 and from 13h30 to 19h (high season) or 18h (low season). Closed May 1st.
