2020 Edition of the National River Tourism Meetings

5th edition of the National Meetings of River Tourism in Auxerre on 5 and 6 February 2020

Wednesday 5 February and Thursday 6 February 2020, the Auxerre Convention Centre will host the 5th edition of the business fair for those involved in the planning and development of river tourism. During these 2 days, 3 conferences are planned and 500 participants are expected. Last year, 3000 business meetings were held. Like the previous editions, these National Meetings of River Tourism (RNTF) are intended for professionals (travel agencies, equipment manufacturers and service providers for example). And on this occasion, the VNF (Voies Navigables de France) establishment will unveil the results of the economic spin-offs of the tourist and river activity by sector, which is booming in France.

A not-to-be-missed event for river tourism stakeholders

In recent years, river tourism has developed well. In France, it has attracted 11.3 million passengers. This translates into 630 million euros of economic spin-offs per year for the territories, which is not negligible. During this 5th edition of the RNTF, VNF will present the results of these socio-economic studies, which are carried out every 4-5 years, and which provide information on trends in this sector, areas for improvement and development, public expectations, etc. The information revealed concerns both the activities linked to this tourism and the issues at stake for each sector (boat hire without a licence, hotel barges and river liners for example). 3 round tables are also proposed by VNF in order to encourage the sharing of experiences and debates.

An event celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2020

Since its creation, the business fair for those involved in the planning and development of river tourism has been held in Paris, Strasbourg, Avignon and Bordeaux. For its 5th edition, the city of Auxerre has been chosen. And 2020 also marks 10 years of its existence. A new decade is thus opening up, which will be accompanied by new perspectives. In the same way, the participants will debate during the round tables on the river tourism of tomorrow. In short, this is an expected event for the players in this sector, which will enable them to develop their network and open up opportunities for them.
