SELF DRIVE RIVER BOAT RENTALS FROM Saint Gilles
The city of Saint Gilles owes its name to an abbayedu XIIth century, to visit. This base is the starting point for cruises by going in the Camargue to Port Cassafières.
The locks are automatic or electric and manned by lock keepers. The locks are closed the 1st of may and the 14th of july.

The one-way or the navigation towards the Carmargue while crossing the Etang de Thau can be canceled or interrupted if the climatic conditions, in particular the wind, do not allow to pass the Etang de Thau. This does not prevent you from sailing while waiting for the reopening of the pond to navigation.
You can moor anywhere along the banks on the Canal du Midi and in Camargue.
- You will find all traditional French shops and all services in Saint-Gilles: Supermarkets, Restaurants, Banks, Tobacco, Bakeries, Butchers
- Thursday and Sunday morning
- A fishing license is required for all channels (Midi, Camargue and Robine). The permit can be purchased at fishing tackle shops in villages near all bases. The only place where a fishing license is not required is the Etang de Thau being located in the maritime regulatory zone.
- On the Canal du Rhône in Sète, mooring taxes range from € 10 to € 40 per night per boat. Rates may change.
- Airport: Nîmes 15 minutes by car, Montpellier 45 minutes by car
- Train: Nîmes Center 30 minutes by car, Arles Center 30 minutes by car
