SELF DRIVE RIVER BOAT RENTALS FROM Joigny
The Joigny base is the starting point for one-way cruises on the Nivernais Canal to Corbigny. This small medieval town is particularly attractive, do not hesitate to visit this village at the start or when you return from cruise.
The locks are automatic or electric and most are manned by lock keepers, except on the Canal du Nivernais and the Canal du Centre where some are manual. The locks are closed the 1st of May, the 14th of July and the 1rst of November.
During the season locks are open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and are closed for lunch between 12:00-13:00 (1:00 p.m.).
Navigation on the Canal du Nivernais is currently suspended at Cercy la Tour (south of the Canal du Nivernais) until 15 June 2024 due to major maintenance work on a dam. As a result, if you are departing from Decize or Plagny, you can currently only cruise on the Canal Latéral à la Loire, and one-way cruises between Decize and Tannay or between Digoin and Châtillon en Bazois will only be possible for a departure after June 15th.
On the Canal du Nivernais, there is a ladder of 16 consecutive locks: l'échelle de Sardy.
Between Saint Jean de Losne and Mâcon, you must only stop at designated moorings, elsewhere you can moor anywhere along the banks in the heart of the countryside.

- Car: From the west / the north: A6 - E15 / E60 exit 18 Joigny then D943 (11,5 km), From the east / the south: A6 - E15 - E60 exit 19 Auxerre then N6 (21 km), From the north-east: A5 - E511 exit 19 Villeneuve l'Archevêque, then N60, D27 and D20 (79 km)

- Air: Paris-Orly airport (138 km) | Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport (177 km)
- In Joigny: all shops, closed on Sunday afternoon
- In Joigny on Wednesday and Saturday morning
- Fishing license card: sold at the Tourist Office. White fish, pike, perch, perch, eel.
- The locks are open on the Yonne (towards Nivernais), on the Canal du Bourgogne and the Canal du Nivernais from 9h to 12h or 12h30 and from 13h or 13h30 to 19h. For the Yonne towards Paris and for the Briare Canal, the locks are open from 9am to 12pm and from 1pm to 6pm.
