The Mayenne is one of the most beautiful waterways in the whole of France. On your way to the lovely village of Chenillé-Changé, you will pass Entrammes, famous for its Roman baths, Chateau Gontier and its magnificent gardens and then Daon, where you can try your hand at water skiing, while the children can play on the water slides. When you arrive in Angers, make sure you visit the magnificent 13th century castle and La Doutre, the quarter around the port.
After visiting Angers, you will pass Morannes and its castle before mooring at the magnificent fortified town of Sablé-sur-Sarthe. Your next stop will be Solesmes, the time to admire the architectural wonders of its abbey. Next is Malicorne that is renowned for its earthenware and 17th century castle, before arriving at Le Mans, the mecca of motor sports enthusiasts.
The locks are electric or manual and manned by lock keepers. They are open on bank holidays.
Anjou is an ideal destination if you are new to boating holidays.
It is strongly recommended you only moor in the designated places.
